Bachelor’s programme – Department of Non-verbal and Comic Theatre, HAMU

Qualifications:
Applicants are entitled to study in the university programme if they have completed their studies at an academic or vocational secondary school and if they pass the admissions examination.
In extraordinary cases, an exceptionally talented pupil may study at the Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts even without having completed his/her secondary school education.
In such a case, however, the pupil is not entitled to the granting of an academic title after completion of the Bachelor’s or Master’s study programme.

Venue: Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts, Malostranské nám. 13 (opposite the entrance to the Church of St. Nicholas; the Department of Non-verbal Theatre is located in Hartig Palace – the building in the left corner of the square next to the main building of the faculty.
This is also the site of the AMU rector’s office. Testing will take place in Hartig Palace, Malostranské nám. 12, ground floor, room no. 0021.
Registration of applicants: Hartig Palace, room no. 0012, 8:00 – 8:45 a.m.
When registering, applicants must present a valid form of identification (national ID card or passport) and an original receipt documenting payment of the administrative fee, if that receipt has not already been sent together with the application.

From the metro station “Karlovo náměstí” on line B, go 5 stops on tram no. 22 or 23 to the stop “Malostranské náměstí”

Admissions examination requirements
Applicants to the study programme at the Department of Non-verbal Theatre are required to perform prepared pantomime etudes.
The admissions examination is in two rounds, consisting of the following parts:
First round:
1. General overview of the history of the field of pantomime (suggested reading: J. Švehla - Tisícileté umění pantomimy, V. Veber – Příběh pantomimy)
- general cultural overview with emphasis on the history and the present of the field of pantomime and movement theatre. Knowledge will be tested in writing (suggested reading: J. Švehla - Tisícileté umění pantomimy, V. Veber – Příběh pantomimy)
2. Movement technique examination
3. Talent test – interview, performance of compulsory pantomime etudes (musical accompaniment in the CD/MD format is permitted) lasting ca. 5 minutes – improvisation
Second round:
4. Music theory and history examination – this involves only those applicants who have passed the talent test. Suggested reading: Zenkl – ABC hudební nauky. Applicants should prepare in accordance with the attached list of questions.
Applicants are expected to have broad knowledge of the fields of pantomime and theatre and a lively interest in the genre, as well as basic knowledge of music theory and history at least at the level required of graduates of Elementary Schools of the Arts.
Applicants must bring close-fitting exercise clothes – single colour, no prints or advertising slogans!

8 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. presentation – all applicants
9 a.m. – 10 a.m. general overview of the history of the field of pantomime – all applicants
10:30 a.m. – noon – movement technique examination, part 1
noon – 1 p.m. – movement technique examination, part 2
2 p.m. – 5 p.m. – talent test
Second round – only for applicants who advance
2 p.m. – 1st group
5 p.m. – 2nd group
