DECISION OF THE DEAN - precautionary measure to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (2019 – nCoV)

Further to information from the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic and the State Health Department, and in direct connection with the Decision of the Prague City Health Station, the Dean of the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (HAMU) is hereby issuing this decision as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (2019 – nCoV).

With effect from today's date the management of HAMU very strongly recommends that HAMU students who are currently staying in the People's Republic of China (PRC) do not leave that country. This recommendation shall remain in force until termination of the emergency measure concerning the danger of outbreak of an epidemic. The faculty guarantees that expenses incurred by students in connection with delayed arrival in the Czech Republic (CR) (flights, tuition fees, etc.) will be reimbursed to them.

This decision has been taken based on and in direct connection with the Decision of the Prague City Health Station. Among other things, that Decision says that the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (AMU) must ban university students arriving from the PRC from attending classes, entering the entire AMU campus and entering the AMU student residence halls for 14 days after returning from the PRC, should the AMU learn of the arrival of such students from the PRC.

Furthermore, after arriving, such students must be housed at facilities that meet all of the extremely high health requirements in connection with the emergency measure concerning the danger of outbreak of an epidemic. Such students must also be prevented from coming into contact with other persons for a period of 14 days after leaving the PRC. In view of the fact that HAMU does not have the facilities or the instruments to guarantee this order fully, the above-mentioned obligations would have to pass directly to the students themselves.

It is therefore in those students' interests to delay their arrival in the Czech Republic.
