HLEDAT
Český hudební skladatel, pedagog, publicista, klavírista a učitel několika generací studentů. To je Marek Kopelent. Od 60. let 20. století se v domácím prostředí podílel na intenzivní emancipaci rodícího se stylu tzv. Nové hudby, který mohl za stoupající mezinárodní pozornosti rozvíjet jako umělecký vedoucí souboru Musica Viva Pragensis. Nemalé mezinárodní renomé spojené s působením v oblasti avantgardního umění mu v období normalizace (a krátce po ročním pobytu v Západním Berlíně) vyneslo nucené odsunutí mimo veřejný život. Přes intenzívní uvádění svých děl v zahraničí působil až do počátku 90. let jako korepetitor v lidové škole umění bez možnosti vycestovat. Po roce 1989 patřil k širšímu okruhu spolupracovníků prezidentské kanceláře a zejména se podílel na vychování několika generací mladých skladatelů na hudební a taneční fakultě pražské AMU.
Je autorem několika oratorií a dále především komorní vokální a instrumentální hudby - celoživotně hledající umělec, jemuž se kritický hlas nerozlučně pojí se skrytou pokorou tvůrce.
Czech music composer, teacher, journalist, pianist, and teacher to several generations of students – this is Marek Kopelent. Since the 1960s, he was involved in the intensive emancipation of the emerging New Music style in our country; he was developing it with increasing international awareness while working as the artistic director of the Musica Viva Pragensis ensemble. His significant international renown associated with his achievements in avant-garde art eventually caused him forced seclusion from the public life during the ‘normalisation’ period (shortly after his one-year stay in West Berlin). Even though his pieces were widely played abroad, he worked as an accompanist at a public art school until the early 1990s and was not allowed to travel abroad. After 1989, he was a member of the wider group of the President’s Office collaborators and, most notably, contributed towards raising several generations of young composers at the Music and Dance Faculty of Prague’s AMU.
Marek Kopelent composed several oratorios and his primary work is chamber vocal and instrumental music. Throughout his life, he has been a searching artist, with a critical voice inextricably linked to profound humility as an author.
