SUPPORT OF THE "WE STAND BEHIND CULTURE!" INITIATIVE

The Academic Senate and management of the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague view with concern the current debate on planned budget changes in the area of culture for 2026.
We express our support for the civic initiative of DAMU students, who are calling a rally entitled "We Stand for Culture!" on Malostranské náměstí on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, during the discussion of the state budget in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.

As an art college that educates future generations of artists and cultural professionals, we consider stable and predictable conditions for the development of culture to be essential. Culture is an integral part of the public sphere and contributes significantly to the identity, education, and international prestige of the Czech Republic.

The AMU Faculty of Music and Dance therefore expresses its solidarity with the cultural and artistic community and calls on political representatives to fulfill their commitments to the cultural sector and ensure conditions that will enable its long-term and dignified development.
