SOPRANO ANDA-LOUISE BOGZA HAS PASSED AWAY

Opera singer Anda-Louise Bogza died on Saturday, December 13, at the age of 60, after a long illness. The soprano, who was born in Romania and lived in Prague, was a soloist emeritus of the National Theater Opera and the State Opera. She received the Thalia Award in 2007 for her role as Minnie in Giacomo Puccini's opera La fanciulla del West. The death was announced by the spokesman for the first stage, Tomáš Staněk.
In addition to the Thalia Award, Bogza, a graduate of the Prague Academy of Performing Arts, achieved many international successes and artistic recognition. She collaborated with leading conductors such as Zubin Mehta.

She often performed in leading roles at first-class opera houses. These include London's Royal Albert Hall, and she sang Verdi's Aida at the Vienna and Berlin Staatsoper. Audiences in Tokyo, Paris, Hamburg, Seville, Madrid, Tel Aviv, Copenhagen, Bucharest, and American cities had the opportunity to hear and see her. She played the title role in Rusalka at the Rome Opera. Bogza loved Prague, where she lived and whose opera houses she rated highly.

Our sincere condolences to her family and loved ones.
