"Reconciliation of Theory with Practice – Selected Concepts of Music Theory in Compositional Practice"

The conference will take place on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Karel Janeček (1903–1974) on 20 November 2024 at the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts, Malostranské náměstí 13, Prague 1.

Submission of proposed papers before 30 October 2024  

Dear colleagues, dear students of master's  and doctoral studies at HAMU,

We would like to inform you that as part of the traditional project "Conflict between Theory and Practice?", a scientific conference on the topic of reconciling theory with practice – Selected Concepts of Music Theory in Composition Practice will be held on 20 November 2024 at 10 a.m. at the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (Malostranské nám. 13, Prague 1) in classroom 2017. The conference is an opportunity to present your research in the field of music. It also provides space for all doctoral students who are obliged to present their research at a professional conference.
We expect papers of 10-15 minutes and a follow-up discussion on the topic of 10 minutes. Topic proposals and abstracts of papers (maximum length 200 words) and your technical requirements for presentation should be sent by 30 October 2024 to sylva.stejskalova@hamu.cz.
