SHORT-TERM STUDIES

non-degree programme

The non-degree study programmes at HAMU are available in both Czech and English for as short a time as one semester. This particular type of study offers an "intern" status without providing ECTS credits and includes minimum of 2 lessons per week of the main subject with one of the renowned teachers of HAMU. Many other activities are available based on intern´s chosen specialisation and current offer of workshops, trainings, projects and performances.

• minimum of 1 semester (13 weeks in October-January/February-June)
  maximum of 1 academic year (26 weeks in October-June) with the possibility of repeated applications
• the internship consists of individual tuition in the main field of study for 2 lessons of 45 mins per week (music) or regular participation in group training sessions in the chosen field of study according to availability for a minimum of 2 lessons of 45 mins per week (dance, non-verbal theatre)
• Trainees in specific fields of study that require piano accompaniment may use 1 lesson of 45 mins per week with a professional piano accompanist for an additional fee according to the current availability.
• The trainee is entitled to receiving a school card, allowing the use of all HAMU facilities, such as libraries, practice rooms, halls, IT equipment for students, discounts in the faculty café, free access to all school concerts and, depending on availability, other events organized by the faculty. 
• The short-term internship does not provide ECTS credits.  
• The short-term internship does not entitle the accepted applicant to a visa for the purpose of "study", it allows the application for a general visa for the purpose of "other". 
• Proof of previous education in the field is not required.
• The pricelist valid for 2025/2026 non-degree short-term studies (internships) is expressed in CZK, VAT included. The price list including binding payment dates is available below. 

Requirements:

• Minimum age of 18 years at the time of starting the internship. 
• B1 level of English/Czech (depending on the chosen language of the internship). The language level will be verified during an interview (online or in person at HAMU) if necessary. No official CEFR certificate required. 
• Personal participation in the internship - the internship cannot be completed online entirely. In exceptional cases approved by the teacher and the Vice Dean of Study Affairs, online consultations combined with personal participation in the classroom are possible.

• Application deadline is 15 August (for applications for the winter semester and the whole academic year)
  and 31 December (for applications for the summer semester).

• An initial interview (in person or online) is scheduled on an individual basis based on availability and necessity after review of the application and required attachments

• Applying for a non-credit internship is free of charge

• Decision on acceptance is announced via email within 30 business days of application
