DEAN'S DECREE NO.15/2024 - CONDITIONS AND COURSE OF ADMISSION TO THE CONTINUING MASTER'S STUDIES IN ENGLISH

 

Article 1 Introductory Provisions

In accordance with Articles 18 and 19 of the Statutes of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, the Dean of the Faculty of Music and Dance of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (HAMU) announces the following rules for the admission procedure and conditions for admission to full-time study in the full-time Master's degree programmes in English in the academic year 2025/2026.

Article 2 List of open study programmes at HAMU for the academic year 2025/2026

The study in English language is charged according to the valid decree of the Dean.

Article 3 Admission procedure

  • Dates of admission examinations: 9. 6. - 20. 6. 2025
  • Application deadline: 15. 4. 2025
  • Administrative fee: 967,- Kč - (nine hundred and sixty-seven Czech crowns), the fee should be paid by credit card or by bank transfer to HAMU bank account No. 19-5373180297/0100, v. s. 64911, spec. s. = application code. Each applicant is obliged to pay the fee for the acts connected with the admission procedure at any time from the moment of submitting the application for studies, but no later than 15 April 2025. If the applicant fails to pay the fee by the specified deadline and in the specified form, the admission procedure will be terminated.
  • Applicants will not be refunded the fee paid for the admission procedure (see AMU Statutes, Article 20, paragraph 2).
  • Candidates must submit a truthful and complete application form only electronically via the online application form:

    In the event of failure to properly complete the application in the system or submission by other means, the application will be considered invalid and the admission procedure will be terminated.

  • The deadline for submission of the application form including attachments is 15 April 2025. For further information see https://www.hamu.cz/en/studies/admission-procedures/
  • The online application system of AMU is open from 15 March to 15 April 2025.

 

Article 4 Admission Procedure Rules and Conditions for Admission to Study

 Each department shall set specific dates on which the admission procedure will take place. Invitations with further information will be sent to applicants by the departmental administrators via e-mail to the address indicated in the application form no later than 10 working days before the entrance examination.

  • The candidate is obliged to confirm receipt of the invitation electronically.
  • Before the entrance examination, the candidate is obliged to register at the HAMU Study Department according to the instructions in the invitation.
  • In case the department requires additional materials for the 1st round, e.g. video recordings, scores, audio recordings, digital recordings, links to online storage, or CD/DVD media, the candidate is obliged to send these materials directly to the relevant department, for exact instructions see the conditions of the entrance examinations for individual study programmes/specialisations https://www.hamu.cz/en/studies/admission-procedures/
    Failure to deliver the required materials by the deadline coinciding with the application deadline will be considered as failure to meet the conditions of the first round of the admission procedure and a decision will be made not to admit the student.
  • The Master's degree is accredited as a two-year follow-up to a previous successfully completed Bachelor's degree in the same or a related study programme/specialisation. The relatedness of the completed bachelor's degree programme/specialisation consists mainly in the similarity or congruence of the content of the programme/specialisation.
  • Successful completion of the entrance examinations in English and fulfilment of the conditions of the admission procedure are prerequisites for admission to the study of the follow-up master's programme or specialisation.

Article 5 Alternative dates of the entrance examination

 No alternative admission date has been set. If a candidate is unable to appear for the entrance examination on the regular date for health reasons and submits a medical certificate within 3 days of the date of the entrance examination, the Dean will consider the reason and, in exceptional and justified cases, may set an alternative date for the entrance examination on the proposal of the relevant department and in agreement with the relevant admissions committee.

Article 6 Publication of the results of the admission procedure

Within thirty days of verifying that the conditions have been met, the dean will issue a decision. After receiving the decision on admission or non-admission to study or the resolution, the applicant has the right to inspect the file, always by prior arrangement with the HAMU Study Department. Before consulting the file, the applicant is obliged to present proof of identity, and the study department willdraw up a report on the process of consulting the file.

 Article 7 Specific Conditions for Admission of Foreigners to Study Programmes implemented in English language

 The admission procedure is conducted in English. Applicants are required to demonstrate proficiency in English according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) as a condition of admission to study in English (the exception is applicants whose native language is English). The required level of English language proficiency according to the CEFR is B2. Applicants must provide evidence of this knowledge by the closing date for applications on 15 April 2025.

The required proof is either:
a) an official international examination certificate from an accredited institution (assessed by the AMU Language Training Centre); or
b) a certificate of completion of another bachelor's degree programme accredited in English in the Czech Republic or abroad.

Without fulfilling this condition, the applicant cannot be issued a decision on admission to study.

Article 8 Final Provisions

  • This decree was discussed and approved by the Academic Senate of HAMU on 11 December 2024.
  • An integral part of the decree is its annex.
  • The Decree shall become valid upon signature of the Dean and shall become effective on the date of publication on the HAMU website and official board.

Required attachments to the application for the Master's degree in the academic year

2025/2026 in English

 

Candidates for the study must fill in the electronic application form completely and send it to

the Faculty's study system (KOS) and send the required attachments in paper form by post

or personally deliver them to the AMU Registry Office by 15 April 2024.

 

Required attachments for applicants from HAMU

Since all the following mandatory attachments are on file with the Study Department of HAMU, it is not necessary to attach these attachments to the application form.

 

Required attachments for applicants from universities other than HAMU:

  1. a) Officially certified proof of completion of Bachelor studies in the Czech Republic (diploma and diploma supplement) or
  2. b) In a separate attachment, a certificate from the university's study department stating thatthe student has completed the final year of his/her Bachelor's studies at the relevant university.
  3. A professional CV.
  4. For the study programme of Dance Pedagogy a medical certificate of medical fitness to study, no more than 30 days old in the Czech language or officially translated into Czech.

 

In the case of a nomination for admission, an officially certified proof of completion of Bachelor's studies (diploma and diploma supplement) must be submitted immediately to the

HAMU Study Department.

 

Additional mandatory attachments to the application form in case the applicant has completed previous education in a Bachelor's programme at a foreign university:

 

You must attach one of the following documents to your application:

  1. a) Proof of general recognition of the equivalence or validity of the foreign document of attainment of a Bachelor's degree in the Czech Republic (so-called nostrification, see: https://www.amu.cz/en/study/recognition-of-foreign-education/assessment-foreign-education-amu-admissions-process/); or
  2. b) a document of a foreign bachelor's degree if it is automatically equivalent in the Czech Republic according to their international obligations without further official procedure (see https://www.amu.cz/en/study/recognition-of-foreign-education/assessment-foreign-education-amu-admissions-process/); or
  3. c) a document of foreign higher education which has been obtained by completing studies in a bachelor's higher education programme at a foreign higher education institution operating under the laws of a foreign state and which entitles its holder to access to study in a follow-up master's degree programme or in a master's degree programme which is not related to a bachelor's degree programme, which AMU itself will assess. This task is subject to a fee and is organised by the HAMU Study Department.

(a) programme sheet, i.e. an overview of activities to date, including major works or creative works performed to date

(b) a letter of motivation

Documents provided are not returned. All communication is in English or Czech, all documents are required in Czech or English. English language, selected documents must be officially translated into Czech.
